Day 3 of the 30days30poems, and I’m gonna rock a pair of S.N.E.A.K.E.R.S!!! Yep that’s right!
Age 10, he asked his mama for a pair of new sneakers.
“Mama, I wanna play ball like Jordan.”
His mum caressed his face and smiled.
Single mum, working in heart of Harlem
Her wish, to make her son’s dream
All true.
With the bills and fees,
She would have to break her son’s heart.
“Not today, Bron
But I promise you,
Someday you gonna have that and more.
Let’s go get one of them pre owned sneakers.
I bet they’d be almost good as new.”
A decade now,
And his passion,
His efforts has paid off.
He’s got his first deal
Mama was right!
The pre owned sneakers
Just worked fine.
But in his hands now,
Is the first of many
He would own.
He stares at it
Like it’s a dream.
Could it really be?
But then he reads the words on them
And he’s sorted.
He’s the future to…
Everything
He wants to be
And everything he would ever have!
